My 2019 Donations

This year I'll be sharing 51% of any money made through  with 3 worldwide organisations.

So my 2019 donations go to..

Misool Foundation

Raja Ampat, Indonesia, is host to 1500 species of fish. In an area, the size of only 2 football fields, live more than 5 times the coral found in the entire Caribbean Sea.

Misool Foundation is on a mission to safeguard one of the most biodiverse reefs in the world. With the world getting smaller and smaller due to media and social networks, more and more tourists flock the beaches of Indonesia each year, and with its beauty, I don't see it slowing down.

Thanks to this organisation, Misool is "one of only a handful of places in the universe where biodiversity is improving rather than declining". Since its establishment in 2005, reef shark populations have recovered rapidly

In 2018 I was fortunate to spend nearly 2 months backpacking Indonesia. I managed to visit 12 islands, from Jakarta, all the way to East Nusa Tenggara. What got to me so much was the amount of ocean trash I witnessed first hand, swimming in their oceans. I read about Misool Foundation and the difference their making to Raja Ampat and it was an easy decision to make.

The Edge of Existence Programme

The EDGE of Existence programme is the ONLY global conservation initiative that focuses specifically on threatened species that represent a significant amount of unique evolutionary history.

One way that EDGE chooses the species on their lists is:

  • they have very few relatives on the tree of life

  • often extremely unusual in the way they look, live and behave, as well as in their genetic make-up.

They represent a unique and irreplaceable part of the world’s natural heritage, yet an alarming proportion is on the verge of extinction.

You can check their site here to see what projects they have ongoing. Scroll around and you'll find the Top 100 animals in danger, broken down by species.

1% for the Planet

1% for the Planet was started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Mathews (founder of Blue Ribbon Flies). The two successful entrepreneurs recognized the power of collective action to protect the environment.

They collaborate with individual and businesses to identify environmental organizations that will make the greatest impact!

Every pound dollar or yen that is contributed goes to a fully vetted, trusted nonprofit organisation. In their 'What we do' page, you can find a list of exactly where the money contributed goes to.

They have already raised hundreds of millions of dollars to the environment, their nonprofit partners are doing hard work to restore our planet for the future.

Pledge: 1%

Each year, these organisations will be changed, to try and give to as many different causes as possible.

Any suggestions would be considered so
